How do you feel?

Scriptural Readings: John 3:16; Hebrews 11:1; II Corinthians 5:7; Luke 1:37; Hebrews 12:2

What are feelings? What about emotions? Our feelings as well as emotions are entwined to each other. Both of these are always attached in all that we do.Tagged along with these two, we experience success and failure as well.

The question now is, did we trust our feelings or our emotions in our success or failure? One thing for sure is that we both have these two. Confusing as it is, they both play a big part in our lives.

According to one dictionary, feelings is defined as the following:

  • an emotional state or reaction.
  • a belief, especially a vague or irrational one.
  • the capacity to experience the sense of touch.
  • a sensitivity to or intuitive understanding of.

Emotion on the other is defined as the following:

  • a natural instinctive state of mind deriving from one’s circumstances, mood, or relationships with others.
  • instinctive or intuitive feeling as distinguished from reasoning or knowledge.

We hide from our feelings. We are dictated with our emotions. These are some of our responses when we are in a certain situation. What ever would be the case, sometimes we take advantage on these two or otherwise we are being fooled as well.

Intuition is a word both present in emotions or feelings definition.

According to one dictionary, intuition means:

  • The ability to understand something immediately, without the need for conscious reasoning.
  • A thing that one knows or considers likely from instinctive feeling rather than conscious reasoning.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

The word believe in Greek is “pisteuo” coming from the word “pistis” from this passage, meaning to have faith.

Now faith comes to the picture. How is important is faith? What is the part of faith in our lives? In our feelings? In our emotions?

Now let us see first what the bible tells about faith.

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

We are assured of the things that we know and hoped for. Faith tells us it is going to come true. It is our evidence. In the court of law, evidence is the basis if one would be one is telling the truth or lying, guilty or innocent. In the same manner faith sealed the assurance that we have hoped for will come into fruition.

II Corinthians 5:7  (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)

When we do our daily tasks(we walk)of our work dedicated to our Lord Jesus(by faith)not by just earning money(by sight). We practice our faith. The time that we execute our daily undertakings, we put faith entirely on this 24 hour cycle only to Jesus Christ.

Luke 1:37 For with God nothing shall be impossible.

We are confident because our faith tells us that for God nothing is impossible.

Now, God communicates with us in many ways and intuition is just only one of the many. Our faith tell us with out doubt to understand something immediately, without the need for conscious reasoning.

Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

It is of utmost importance that we should hold on to our faith in Jesus Christ. We have the confidence that our prayers are heard by our Father and for Him nothing is impossible.

Heavenly Father, our feelings and emotions can easily cheat us. Strengthen our faith as we put our trust and faith in your Son Jesus our Lord and savior as we walk in our spiritual lives for all things are possible with You. In the mighty name of our Lord Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.
