Sow that we can reap

Scriptural Readings: Genesis 3:19, Matthew 9:35-38, Romans 10:14-15, Titus 1:15-16, Matthew 28:16-20, Romans 1:16

King James Bible

Genesis 3:19

In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou [art], and unto dust shalt thou return.

New Living Translation

By the sweat of your brow will you have to eat until you return to the ground from which you were made.

Difficulties in life are the things most of us are facing today. We have to start from the beginning to survive before reaching the top again. It seems that it takes a lot of everything to have one thing going. The current situation points us more about difficulties rather than good times.

To fill an empty stomach is one major concern today worldwide. We have to work to earn. The Father commands us to sow that we can reap. For some, it may seem that this is a kind of punishment, but the truth is the Father is simply telling us to trust Him. Although our first parents were thrown out from paradise, they were not neglected. They were given instructions to survive and that is to sow to reap. If God did not care at all, He would not have instructed us to work, He could have simply let us die in hunger and go straight to hell. To survive on this planet, we have to sow(work) and reap(earn) to survive.

King James Version

Matthew 9:35-38

v.35 And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.

v.36 But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.

v.37 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly [is] plenteous, but the labourers [are] few;

v.38 Pray ye, therefore, the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.

New Living Translation

Matthew 9

v.35 Jesus traveled through all the towns and villages of that area, teaching in the synagogues and announcing the Good News about the Kingdom. And he healed every kind of disease and illness.

v.36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

v.37 He said to his disciples, “The harvest is great, but the workers are few.

v.38 So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his field.”

To sow and to reap in the spiritual realm is all about continuation and completion of what the Lord Jesus Christ started. To sow and reap in the physical realm is simply surviving to live. It should be every Christian’s concern to bridge the gap between survival and completion and to know not just to live here on earth, but to declare the gospel of the kingdom unto the ends of the world. We do not live just simply to survive. We were given a commandment to spread the good news. We need to do this because He has a plan. We need to survive and complete the mission because there is something at the end of this for us, and this is eternal life with our God!

King James Version

Romans 10:14-15

v.14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

v.15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

New Living Translation

v.14 But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how they can believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them?

V.15 And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say,” How beautiful are the feet of the messengers who bring the Good News!”

It is a must that each of us should contribute to the spreading of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. There should be no reason why we should not do it. The harvest is great. There are a lot of people out there who have not heard the good news, and we are now living the end times. The Gospel of good news should be declared unto the ends of this world.

King James Version

Titus 1:15-16

v.15 Unto the pure all things [are] pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving [is] nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.

v.16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny [him], being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

New Living Translation

v.15 Everything is pure to those whose hearts are pure. But nothing is pure to those who are corrupt and unbelieving, because their minds and consciences are corrupted.

v.16 Such people claim they know God, but they deny him by the way they live. They are detestable and disobedient, worthless for doing anything good.

….they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

How do we see humanity today? With all the things that are happening today, confusion and helplessness are obvious and visible. People argue because of confusion resulting in helplessness. We are heading in the wrong direction. No one has a clear cut of what should be done to achieve a better result. A lot of us, we have gone astray and lost. This is the truth, a fact we cannot deny.

The reason we are confused, helpless, and experiencing suffering from all these uncertainties is that we are corrupt and unbelieving, Our minds and consciences are corrupted. Humans claim that they know God, but the truth is that we do not know an iota about Him, and we cannot deny the fact that it can be seen, by the way we live our lives. How can we carry on spreading the good news if we are corrupt, unbelieving, and doubting?

We have to be born again(John 3:3). This is the start of our wonderful relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He did not ask us to join anything or to require us to do something to know Him and forgive our sins. The only thing we have to admit is that we are sinners, and we cannot save ourselves, and finally, He will forgive us! Salvation!

King James Version

Matthew 28:16-20

v.16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.

v.17 And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.

v.18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

v.19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

v.20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, [even] unto the end of the world. Amen.

New Living Translation

v.16 Then the eleven disciples left for Galilee, going to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go.

v.17 When they saw him, they worshiped him- but some of them doubted!

v.18 Jesus came and told his disciples,” I have been given all the authority in heaven and on earth.

v.19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

v.20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

King James Version

Romans 1:16

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

New Living Translation

For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile.

Salvation is in the Good news of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! It has to be declared! We should never be ashamed of it! This is the power of God. Salvation to everyone. We have to sow the seed of salvation and we will see the power of God reaping the souls before our own eyes.

That is why the Scriptures say,” How beautiful are the feet of the messengers who bring the Good News!”

Dear Brothers and sisters in Christ,

As Christians, we are commissioned to spread the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Many of us are now in the most trying time of our lives. Almost everyone is in dire need of almost everything. A lot of people on this planet are in distress. Even having almost the perfect technology, we still end up trying almost everything to cope up with every situation we are in today except for very few who are trying to share the gospel of peace and hope of Jesus Christ.

It is of utmost importance that we should share the gospel of Jesus Christ. Help me do it. Share this site with your friends. This will not cost you anything but on the other hand, you have done your part as a Christian to respond to the great commission that the Lord Jesus Christ commanded us.

Let the blessings of our God the Father, His son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit be upon us in this trying time.

In Christ,

Sit and rest

Scriptural Readings: Ecclesiastes 3:7, Psalm 37:7, Job 6:24, Ephesians 2:6-7

For so many obvious reasons a lot of us are currently living the most trying times in our lives. We continue to see and experience restlessness. From small scale to medium-scale and the most obvious larger scale. Our problems are compounded every day and it seems that these things will never come to an end. Is there a possibility that these things will one day be over? How long can we endure these things confronting us? Can we be able to reach the rest we want in this never and changing to the worst world we live in? The longer that it takes us to deal with it the shorter we are being pushed to the edge as if our entire being is a ticking time bomb.

King James bible

Ecclesiastes 3:7

A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

Psalm 37:7

Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

Job 6:24

Teach me, and I will hold my tongue: and cause me to understand wherein I have erred.

Of the many things that we surely and miss in our lives at this point is just to sit, rest, and listen to the holy things God is telling, teaching, and instructing us. Let God speak and we should sit patiently and remain in silence. It is about time that we should stop giving and executing humanly options in the first place(most of the time failing) but listen carefully to the divine instructions first and foremost. It is impossible to receive God’s instructions if we are filled up with our reasoning following our way of thinking and collaborating with our stubborn attitude of dealing with these things through our actions. These are the things that make us weak. This is the clearest error in our lives that is continually done in a daily manner. Sitting and resting on God through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ is the only thing that can assure us from all these things that are making our lives miserable lifted from us.

Ephesians 2:6-7

v.6 And hath raised [us] up together, and made [us] sit together in heavenly [places] in Christ Jesus:

God made us sit with Jesus our Lord and Savior in heavenly places. Once we Christians are seated with Him it means that we have to rest with Him. The idea of sitting and seated with Him means He will do all the things needed by us firstly. When we are sitting down or lying down the pressure is not within us. It is transferred on the chair or bed where we are sitting or lying down. When we are tired we need to rest our physical body including our mental health. We should be having a time of rest. In a lying or sitting position, our whole being does not have to put any strain or force itself to rest. All the things that make it difficult for us are now transferred to the bed or the chair we are resting on. In the same way, it goes with our spiritual lives. We must rest and sit with our Lord Jesus Christ. Resting and sitting with Him means He has taken the burden from us and we are free and should be patiently waiting for His instructions and most especially His blessing for us. This is the divine rest that most of us are looking for and probably missing.

And I will give you rest

If we stand on our ground, trusting in our own beliefs, bearing anxiety, depression, and things that we carry on our shoulders as we face every day, sooner or later we are going to give up. Our man-made faith in believing that we can stand on our human ground is strong and will sooner or later crumble like cookies when uncertainties and problems pile up. We are going to admit that we cannot stand anymore. Do not hold back. We should not keep anything from Him. There should not be anything left inside from holding us back from Him. Jesus promised us rest. Stand on this promise. This is the ground we should be standing on. All these things that we keep holding on to, things that made it difficult to live one more day should be given to Him in exchange for our rest. He said He will give us the rest we needed. If we ask for it, He will give it.

v.7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in [his] kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

New Living Translation

v.7 So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of his grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all he has done for us who are united with Jesus Christ.

When we became Christians, accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour we were made to sit with Him in the heavenly places and this resulted in one of the many things that God promised us. God promised that He will show or point to us the incredible richness of His grace and kindness that in the future generations might see it as well. We are given this promise, yes, right at this very moment and no doubt about it. His grace and kindness in abundance were given to us today that can displace any anxiety, depression, and all those miseries that imprisoned us for a long time. We continually walk in our Christian lives bearing all these things that burden us. We need to sit and rest. God made us sit with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to show that through grace and kindness we are free from the bondage of oppression from anxiety, depression, and all the things that slave us and above all assurance of eternal peace.

Stand on His ground

Scriptural Readings: Matthew 24:6-8,13-14

King James Version

Matthew 24

v.6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all [these things] must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

v.7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

v.8 All these [are] the beginning of sorrows.

New Living Translation

v.6 And you will hear of wars and threat of wars , but don’t panic. Yes, these things must take place, but the end won’t follow immediately.

V.7 Nation will go to war against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes and many parts of the world.

v.8 But all this is only the first of birth pains, with more to come.

It seems that what is happening today is becoming clearer as days pass for Christians and as Christians we should be well aware of what is going on. We have been reading, hearing and seeing a lot of the worst news ever in our lives. What do these things tell us? Where are we heading?

A lot of us today who live in different parts of this world whether a Christian or not, we are definitely somehow affected by what is happening on this planet. While this is written, there are some countries who are having a conventional war. People are suffering and dying because we are plagued by a virus. Unemployment rises, political instability threatens almost every country in the world. Economy is on the brink of collapsing. We cannot deny the fact that uncertainties continue to intensify as days go by. What do these things sum up to?

see that ye be not troubled…

The Lord Jesus said that we should not be troubled , alarmed or panicked.
These are His words. There should be no reason why we should not believe and follow it, and as Christians, if we are not to follow the things that He instructed us, it is going to be a disaster for sure at the end for all of us if we continue to ignore these things that we are asked to do by our Lord Jesus.

What about the good news? Will there be good news? Or some will say that there is no more good news happening today neither will there be happening in the future.

There is a good news.

King James Version

v. 13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

v.14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

New Living Translation

v. 13 But the one who endures to the end will be saved.

v.14 And the Good News about the KIngdom will be preached throughout the whole world, so that all nations will hear it; and then the end will come.

Nobody knows when the end will come. It is only our Heavenly Father knows, but what is very clear right now is that the signs are for real and we cannot deny it and as we go on reading the whole chapter to the end, it tells us that we have to be strong in the Lord.

The big question now is are we strong in Him. It is indeed a scary feeling of what is happening today but we have to endure. How? Verse 13 said those who will endure will be at the end and be saved. The word “endure” in Greek is “hupomeno”. Hupomeno comes from the root words hupo and meno meaning “stay behind” or in other words remain; figuratively it means persevere- abide.

Jesus the son of the living God wants us to remain, persevere and abide in Him. We should stand on His ground. As soon as we stand on His ground, we will have fortitude. We are going to be immovable. We are the ones who will proclaim and preach the Good News about the KIngdom. If we stand on the ground of the good news, the finished work at cavalry, we will have the task of spreading the good news. This is the strongest ground that we will be standing on as Christians. This is the ground where the foundation of our salvation was fortified and this is the ground we are to stand on as we go through with our Christian lives.

We are always given the option where to stand on. It is important that we have to stand on something otherwise we are going to be miserable with our lives. We have to remember that we humans have the tendency to lean on or stand on something if we are in distress. This is our nature. We need a saviour. We need God through Jesus Christ. No one goes through the Father but through Him.

We can continue to stand on the ground where we cannot be sure of what will be for us at the end or stand on the ground where Jesus our Lord and Saviour promised us that we cannot be moved. Let the Holy Spirit guide us. Let us always have a prayerful life that the Holy Spirit will protect, sanctify and empower us on these times of trouble.

Heavenly Father, we are always weak. We can never be strong without Your Son Jesus. We come to Your throne of grace. Help us with our frailties and weaknesses. Cleanse us from our iniquities and let Your Holy Spirit comfort us in times of uncertainties. In the mighty name of Your son Jesus, our Lord and Saviour we pray. Amen.

It is all about intentions

Scriptural Readings: Acts 13:2, James 4:8, Matthew 22: 36-40

Intention is all about planning including our feelings and all those sorts of things that we want. True enough we considered a lot of things arriving from these intentions. Considering the things and the time we gave and went through with these intentions as Christians, the question is…Is it God’s will?

King James Version

Acts 13:2

As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.

New Living Testament Version

Acts 13:2

One day as these men were worshipping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Dedicate Barnabas and Saul for the special work to which I have called them.”

One sure thing is that God has a plan and intentions for us. Make no mistake about it. He will reveal a lot of things for us as soon as we go through with our day. The Holy Spirit Whom the Father promised us will guide us. We should not doubt it. God never wanted for us to have intentions without His will. God has a plan for each and everyone of us.

If our intentions is all for God’s glory there is no doubt that God will not delay His response for us. The only reason we cannot understand, comprehend and all mixed up is because of our own intentions hidden in our hearts that only God can see.

One day as these men were worshipping the Lord and fasting….

This alone we can see that they were no doubt serious with their worship and fasting as well. This is a time only for God. Their intention and focus is just all for our God. There is only one thing in their spirits, soul and body and that is God. They are doing this for one reason and that is to draw near to God and sure thing was that they knew God will draw near to them. And as they expected the Holy Spirit responded by giving them His intention.

James 4:8

Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse [your] hands, [ye] sinners; and purify [your] hearts, [ye] double minded.

This is why a personal relationship with Jesus, accepting Him as our Lord and Savior is needed.

We are asked to draw near to Him but when? Tomorrow? Next week? next month? because we have to finish something? God knows all our intentions. There is no doubt that if we draw near to Him He is always there and He will draw near to us. This is the reason why we always regret things at the end. God is always waiting for us to draw near to Him but we always have other intentions which has become a priority not Him.

Matthew 22: 36-39

v.36 Master, which [is] the great commandment in the law?

v.37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

v.38 This is the first and great commandment.

v.39 And the second [is] like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

v.40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

All things do matter. Our responsibilities to our families. Our social responsibilities matter too. Our rights also matters a lot. Jesus wants us to love our neighbors as we love ourselves but the first thing Jesus wanted is to love God with all our hearts, soul and mind.

If our intention is to think what are the good reasons why we should divorce our partners, a legitimate reason why we should be having abortion because these are bothering us. Do we think that these intentions are more favorable for God? Did we ever asked God how to have a forgiving heart so that I can forgive my cheating partner? Have we given some serious thoughts about the innocent life that has to be removed because of an untimely pregnancy? Did we ever have the thoughts of giving God the time and not asking Him the reasons why we should have reasons for these things that we did and decided in the first place ? These are our intentions. True enough we are focused on God but our intention is for our own good not His will. Again, true enough we will be having these uncertainties but God wants us to focus on Him not with the things that has given us these discomforts. God is bigger than any of our countless unbearable problems.

God wants us to acknowledge Him. His presence in us should tell us that we are precious to Him and not to waste time looking for what is good for us. God knows what is best for us. It would be a real comfort and peace of mind focusing on Him. Despite the fact that we are weary and heavily laden, Jesus said “ I will give you rest.”
